A prototype of this ring was discovered near the northern aisle of St. Lawrence Church in Talfingen (Neu-Ulm, Bavaria). The original was made of gold and belonged to a noblewoman. Engraved on the outside is the name "TETRAGRAMMATON," representing the secret four-letter name of God, while inside are the inscriptions "INRI" and the Tetragram, crafted in a special graphic script.

Such rings were used for magical protection and spiritual enlightenment, as evidenced by the presence of names employed in religious, mystical, magical, and even alchemical practices. It is likely that this ring was part of prayer rituals and served as a talisman against demonic forces, rather than merely a valuable piece of jewellery.
